A partnership agreement was signed between Bangladesh Shrimp and Fish Foundation and Winrock International, a US based organization at a simple ceremony held in Dhaka today to join together to work on specific aspects of shrimp production in Bangladesh that would result in increased production and faster growth in the shrimp sector.

The partnership agreement would enable BSFF – a Non-Profit private organization focused on Research, Advocacy and Targeted Actions at all level of value chain in the fisheries, aquaculture and shrimp industry, and Winrock International to make much needed development interventions within the framework of U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) funded Safe Aqua Farming for Economic and Trade Improvement (SAFETI) project.

The partnership agreement would specially focused on increasing production and income in the supply chain participants in the sector particularly farmers, input suppliers and others, and an improvement in the quality of exported shrimp and prawn from Bangladesh.

For more than a decade BSFF has been consistently working to generate much needed dynamism to the fisheries and aquaculture sector in Bangladesh.  As a partner of Winrock International, BSFF will specially help address key development priorities in the policy and regulatory domain important for shrimp production and export as well as providing all important stakeholders a platform to obtain maximum synergy from well coordinated cooperation initiatives.

The partnership agreement was signed by Syed Mahmudul Huq, Chairman of BSFF and Mr. Mr. William J Collis, Chief of Party, SAFETI project on behalf of Winrock International.
