As part of the ongoing work of the USDA-SAFTEI project on Safe aqua Farming for Economic and Trade Improvement for Bangladesh, BSFF organized a consultation workshop on Sustainable Development of Shrimp Sector: An Innovative Approach to Credit for Intensification of Shrimp Farming at Hotel Tulip Garden, Banani, Dhaka to discuss various aspects of developing affordable credit facilities and arrangement of the disbursement among the interested shrimp farmers in South Western and South Eastern part of Bangladesh. The workshop provided an opportunity to the participants to appreciate the importance of arranging credit for producers if they were to be successful in upgrading their production processes and graduate to more intensive farming practices with resultant gain in production. The workshop was presided by Syed Mahmudul Haq, Chairman of BSFF and was widely participated by high officials of the Bangladesh Bank, economists, specialists, and representative of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Soanli Bank and several commercial Banks, i.e., Commerce Bank Ltd., Prime Bank, IFIC Bank, Mercantile Bank, SAFETI Dhaka headquarter specialists, representative Department of Fisheries (DoF), World Fish, FAO, BSFF, several Shrimp hatchery owner and producers.
